Watch out!  Be on your guard against all kinds of greed…For where your treasure is, there your heart is also.— Luke 12:15, 34

“Watch Out!
Be on your guard.
Do not worry.
Do not be afraid.
Consider the lilies.”

God of promise,
you warn us,
challenge us
invite us,
remind us,
redeem us.

Your words reshape
our world,
our view,
our purpose,
our meaning.

Your words.
Often lost amid the noise,
the pace,
the clamor,
of our own voices.
The voices of our world.

We spend,
and save,
filling our barns,
with the things of this world.
We covet the
latest and the best,
creating needs,
to satisfy our hungers.
And yet we remain
strangely empty.
Mindless accumulation
not enough to
fill the emptiness in our souls.

And once again
your words reach our
yearning hearts.
Your words,
pointing beyond the seen.
Your words,
calling us home.

Free us from the things we own,
the things that own us,
so we might once again
find our home in you.
