As you come to him, the living Stone – rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him – you also, like living stones are being built into a spiritual house.— 1 Peter 2:4-5

Stones,
thrown at one another
in anger and fear.
Hurled with bitterness
and disgust,
creating an avalanche
of hurt,
pain
and brokenness.
Burying others
with shame,
self-doubt,
and insecurity.
Stones,
of judgement,
prejudice,
and hatred,
stacked up.
Creating a wall
of injustice,
division
and intolerance.
Stones,
of regret,
crippling,
paralyzing,
weighing us down.
Yet, you choose us.
You name us
living stones.
Declare us precious,
like diamonds.
Stones,
holy in your sight.
Stones,
to be built on you,
the cornerstone,
held together
by your
love and grace.
Recast us in your image.
Remake us in your presence.
Renew us in your mercy.
