Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?— Matthew 6:26-27

In the quiet of the night,
the anxieties of our lives,
loom large.
Casting shadows of
fear, worry, despair,
chasing away the peace
and rest of sleep.
The daily struggles
become nightly torments,
a never-ending film
played in our mind’s eye.
The ‘what ifs’ of life
gain power and control,
drowning out the
peace and providence
of God.
Still our harried minds Lord,
quiet the anxious voices,
calm our fearful spirits.
Teach us
to trust,
to rest,
to center
ourselves in Your care.
Whisper Your words
of hope,
of promise,
of love into our hearts.
Remind us again,
of Your grace,
Your strength,
Your comfort.
So we might
find our rest,
our home,
our solace
in You.
