Spirit Programs are…

A Time for Fellowship

Children gather at 3:45 p.m. in Westminster Hall to greet friends and enjoy a healthy snack.

A Time for Building Faith

Through Bible lessons and games, the curriculum is taught to equip children with a solid Christian foundation to help them make smart choices every day.

A Time for Singing Praises to God

Our children’s Spirit choirs provide an opportunity for children to find their singing voices and use them to praise God in worship! We have fun singing, learning basic music reading, playing instruments, learning Bible stories reflected in the weekly texts and preparing for worship leadership.

The children’s choirs sing in worship one Sunday each month, on Christmas Eve and offer two musicals throughout the year – one in December and one in May during the 10:15 a.m. worship service as the culmination of the choir year.

Sunday School & Children's Church

Building Faith at the Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge

We believe the primary goal of Sunday School is to raise children in the knowledge of God and fellowship of God’s community. Faith needs Scripture to help it grow, because there is no comprehension and meaning without content. At the Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge, the Bible lies at the heart of all our programming.

Sunday School ~ 9:00 a.m.

Sunday School (age 3-grade 5) is a developmentally appropriate look at the stories of the Bible. A variety of learning techniques help children learn about their faith while having an enjoyable experience incorporating games, music and art. Registration for children ages 3 through Grade 5 is ongoing throughout the year. Parents bring children to their classrooms at 9:00 a.m. and pick them up at 9:45 a.m.

Classroom Assignments
Fireside Room: Children ages 3 – Kindergarten
Finley Room: Children in Grades 1-2
Calvin Hall: Children in Grades 3-5

Children’s Church ~ 10:15 a.m.

Children (age 3-grade 2) begin in worship in the Sanctuary with their families. After the Message for Children, children are invited to attend Children’s Church in the Chapel. This special worship service is designed just for them as it includes a Bible story, a hands-on learning activity and a snack. Parents may meet their children in Westminster Hall after the worship service.

Nursery Care

Pam Smith in the Nursery

The nursery, located near the Sanctuary, is open on Sunday mornings during the 9:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services for infants and toddlers (ages 0-3). The church has a minimum of two caregivers in the nursery at all times. Because we want your worship experience to be as comfortable as possible, a silent paging system is available which ensures our ability to reach you at any time. The nursery features a diaper changing station and sink, and also serves as a private feeding room. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have any questions about the nursery, contact Pam Smith, 908-766-1616 x12.
