The Reverend Dennis W. Jones was installed as the nineteenth pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge on Sunday, January 24, 2009.
A native of Basking Ridge, Dennis graduated from the University of Delaware in 1984 and returned to his hometown to become a police officer. Dennis was often referred to as "Father" by his fellow officers because of the philosophy with which he approached his job. Though it was an invaluable experience, Dennis felt that God was calling him to a different life and ministry – the ministry of a pastor. Dennis soon enrolled in the Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in 1990.
He began his ministry as an Associate Pastor with a focus on youth and their families in Charlotte, NC at the Sardis Presbyterian Church. In 1993, Dennis returned to New Jersey to serve in a similar role here at The Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge for six years. After learning much while serving as an Associate Pastor at these large, active, and deeply committed congregations, Dennis discerned a call to serve as the Pastor of Alexandria First Presbyterian Church in Milford, NJ, where he served for ten years.
In each setting Dennis has been challenged and affirmed, and felt the joy of God's grace at work in and through his life. Dennis shares that he is extremely excited and quite humbled to take this next step in ministry as the Pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge.
Dennis is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, with a concentration in the areas of Leadership and Spiritual Formation.
Dennis is married to Emily and they have a four year old daughter, Teresa, who has quickly fallen in love with this church.
