Sunday Morning Small Groups

The Early Bird Bible Study – 8:30 am in-person in the church house parlor and online with Zoom, led by Chris Whitlock  The Early Birds are studying the Sunday service hymns and anthems and the scriptural basis behind them. Chris says, “I have always loved the music of our church. I find hymns a great way to remember key scripture. I also love the poetry and imagery of the lyrics in our hymns. Discussion, Study, and Book Groups

Monday Afternoon Book Group (Walk & Talk) – 2-4 pm, every other Monday via zoom. This bimonthly online book discussion group will be starting discussion of Richard Rohr’s Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life on Mon, April 1 at 2 pm. Subsequent dates will be April 15 and 29. The book is about how our failings can be the foundation for ongoing spiritual growth. Discussions usually go from 2 to 4 pm, All are welcome. Tuesday Night Study – Tuesdays, 7:15-8:45 pm, in-person in the Church House Library and online using Zoom. The Tuesday Night Group will begin a study called “The Historical Jesus: The Evolutionary Challenge of a Mediterranean Peasant”, featuring Dr. John Dominic Crossan. Contact Maureen Paterson for further information and to be included on the invite list.  Or, speak to a current participant. Wednesday Evening Discussion Group7:00 pm via zoom. The Prophets in Context: a seven week survey of the Old Testament books of prophecy. Instead of viewing the prophecies simply as a prelude to the New Testament, we will be examining how the prophets spoke to the particular historical events and situations of their times. Meditation groups

Groups meet through zoom on Mondays, 7:30 PM; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 AM, online with zoom Meditation is an ancient spiritual practice that has well-documented health benefits. Christian meditation offers the added benefit of opening pathways to help each of us to step into the presence of the Almighty, access the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, and create space for resting in the love of our Lord and Savior. Groups meet on Thursdays at 9:15 am and at 7:30 pm online with zoom Feeling lost? Fearful about what the future holds? Looking for a small group of mutually-supportive believers? Using Bible passages, prayer and sharing of experiences both good and bad, these groups provide the members ways to find strength in these troubled times. New groups and in-person groups may be formed based on popular demand.
