We will warmly welcome the Rev. Pat Jackson as our guest preacher at both worship services on the weekend of June 30 – July 1. Pat has been serving as pastor of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church of Raytown, Missouri since 2009. A “second career” pastor, Rev. Jackson previously worked for a decade in work- force development where he helped ex-offenders, people overcoming addictions, and persons on welfare re-enter the workforce. He also served for 2 1/2 years as a primary health care volunteer for the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa where he helped provide anti-malaria, nutrition and sanitation services to a population of 10,000 people across 28 villages.
Rev. Jackson received his Masters of Divinity from the Saint Paul School of Theology, his Masters in Public Administration from New York University, and his BA from the University of Michigan. His life is immeasurably enriched by his wife Janet Thompson Jackson who is Professor at Law at the Washburn School of Law in Topeka, Kansas. They are blessed by their daughter Elyse who is currently in the 7th grade and a member of the America Youth Ballet Company of Overland Park, Kansas.
In addition to the joys of ministry, Rev. Jackson enjoys reading, movies, travel, photography, sports and the gifts of family and friends. If his life passion were summed up in a phrase, it would be ‘the quest for reconciliation.’ Pat is the son of our 16th pastor, the Rev. Dr. J. Calvin K. Jackson, and grew up here in the life and ministry of the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. We also look forward to welcoming Cal, pastor emeritus of BRPC, who will be joining his son and presenting one of the Scripture Lessons next Sunday.
