God’s Co-op Pantry is blessed all year round by the time and hands-on work our wonderful volunteers provide. Volunteers help run the client pick-up sessions and handle all the behind the scenes tasks, including food ordering and pick-up, filling of bags, and recordkeeping. Donations of food items and financial support from the congregation and Pantry friends keeps our doors open. At the current time we are providing more than 300 bags of food each month. Our client list is growing, the greatest growth this year is from Veterans living in the new VA Hospital apartments.
In November the Pantry received a very special gift from Always Best Care – Senior Services, a local business run by Greg and Robin La Versa. Unsolicited, Always Best Care organized a local community food drive to benefit the Pantry! Donations were made by simply using a yougivegoods.com online portal. The effort resulted in more than 600 food items, and $600 in cash donated to help us feed our neighbors in need. The food was delivered directly to the Pantry by yougivegoods. The La Versa family was there with us accept the delivery and add the donation to the shelves. We are so blessed to have received this generous gift and extend humble and heartfelt thanks to the La Versa family and all those who supported the food drive.
Thank you to those of you who have chosen a Pantry gift tag from the Giving Tree in Westminster Hall. We are hoping to give each of the approximately 130 client families we serve a $25 Shoprite gift card. The food bags we provide contain very basic food items; by giving the gift card you donate to our clients we allow them to purchase a special food or health care item to help make their Christmas a little easier and brighter.
From all of the God’s Co-op Pantry Administrative Team, and the clients we serve, thank you for blessing us with your support.
