Our Director of Youth Ministry Toby Montgomery will be completing his ministry with BRPC on November 5 and begin a new chapter serving as solo pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Independence, Iowa. We wish Toby God’s fullest blessing in all that is to come. We are all invited to a reception in Toby’s honor on Sunday, November 5 in the Church House Parlor following worship. This will be an opportunity to speak with Toby and express our gratitude and best wishes. Cake will be served!

Our commitment to a vibrant and growing youth ministry at BRPC remains as strong as ever! To that end, I have two very positive updates to share:

Session has unanimously approved that Beth Cleary will serve as our part-time Interim Coordinator of Youth Ministry. I am thrilled that Beth has agreed to serve in this vital role! She is eager to engage with the youth and their families and provide meaningful programs for members and their friends to enjoy fellowship together, grow in faith, and serve and love those who are in need. Beth is very familiar with our ministries as she grew up at BRPC attending fellowship gatherings, retreats, confirmation class, and 10 Maine Workcamps. She has been a Sunday school teacher, a Bibles and Bagels teacher, and a senior high advisor. Beth has also served as a Deacon and an Elder. Beth has two daughters, Annabella, 18, and Rachel, 15, who both love the youth offerings at BRPC. Beth will coordinate the volunteer teams for our current programs and also looks to provide additional ways youth might connect with one another and with God. She will be the lead contact person and communicator-in-chief for all things youth ministry related. Beth has her doctorate in Physical Therapy and has practiced as a pediatric provider in schools, clinics and homes for over 23 years. Beth can be reached at bethpt@hotmail.com, or ‭(908) 883-1071‬. Beth we welcome you to this new role!

The search is already in motion to seek a permanent Director of Ministry to Youth, Young Adults, and their Families. Ministry Architects is a highly respected consulting firm that BRPC has partnered with a number of times over the years. They are already working hard to network, spread the good word about BRPC, and seek out candidates on our behalf. We are forming an “Interview Team” to be part of the interview and discernment process. If you are interested in serving on that team, I’d love to hear from you!

As always, please be in touch with me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

With gratitude to God, and looking forward to all that is ahead,

Dennis Jones
