Join us on Sunday, April 2 at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary as we welcome The Chancel Ringers of the First Presbyterian Church in Westminster, PA for a special concert. The Chancel Ringers are directed by Marcia Sommers. We are excited to have them share their gift of music with us!

The concert is free; an offering to defray the expenses will be received, and a reception will follow the program.

The Chancel Ringers are the premiere handbell choir at First Presbyterian Church in West Chester, PA, and are part of a singing and ringing ministry that features 3 singing choirs and 3 handbells choirs, along with a fine arts series, Column Classics. The Choir will ring a program that includes music by Vivaldi and Bizet, Cynthia Dobrinski, William Griffin, Arnold Sherman and Tammy Waldrop, and will include seasonal hymn favorites as well as movie favorites, including music from Pirates of the Caribbean and “Let It Go” from Walt Disney’s Frozen. They ring 5 octaves of handbells and choir chimes made at the Malmark Bell Foundry in Pennsylvania.

The Choir is annually featured at West Chester’s Old Fashioned Christmas celebration, and has been a part of First Presbyterian’s Ring and Sing program of holiday music presented on bells for over 20 years. They have played for A Longwood Christmas at Longwood Gardens, and the choir was featured in a TLC special, “A Day of Weddings”. They played A Spring Ring at FPC last May, and play regularly for worship at First Presbyterian, as well as community events in the West Chester area. One of the Ringers, Bev Kreitler Shaner, grew up in the Basking Ridge church. The choir is under the direction of Marcia Sommers, a native of Cranford, NJ, who holds music degrees from Westminster Choir College and Eastern Kentucky University.
