Please help recently-arrived refugees by donating toiletry items – Now through October 9

Please help provide personal toiletry items to recently arrived refugees and other forcibly displaced persons fleeing violence and persecution.  We are collaborating with Missions partner Refugee Assistance Partners NJ and the IRC (International Rescue Committee).  Items we collect will be given to families during a free distribution at IRC in Elizabeth, to help these families sustain their dignity and wellness as they build a new life in New Jersey.  IRC hopes to reach 150 families in October.  Your donation will help!

How can you help?

Please purchase items on the list below, and leave them in the Toiletry Collection boxes in the narthex, Westminster Hall, or church house coat room, by October 9.

On Sunday, October 9 at 4 pm, come help us prepare family packs of hygiene items and enjoy some ice cream!

Collection list (items for family packs)

Note: If you shop on Amazon.com, we have created a wishlist containing the items using the church’s Amazon Smile account – items you purchase will be shipped to the church. If you use Amazon Prime, there should be no shipping costs – please check shipping costs before you complete your order.

Full size items only, please; no samples.  Multi-packs are fine.  For the sake of equity, consistency, and respect for ethnicity and culture, we are only collecting these items:

  • shampoo for thick, curly hair, 15 oz or larger
  • conditioner for thick, curly hair, 15 oz or larger
  • bar soap, full size
  • lotion for dry skin, 7 oz or larger
  • deodorant (non-gendered preferred if possible), 2.5 oz or larger
  • toothpaste, 4 oz or larger
  • toothbrushes, manual type, child or adult sizes
  • feminine pads (not tampons), package of 36 or more

We thank you for choosing welcome!
