Dear Friends,

This year’s stewardship theme at The Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church is “Do The Good That Is Yours to Do.” It’s inspired by two powerful scriptures, each reminding us that God has entrusted every one of us with a unique part to play in God’s unfolding work of love.

“What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

(Corinthians 12:7)

In a world that often feels uncertain and divided, these words of truth ground us. They remind us that while none of us can do everything, each of us can do something — something good, something faithful, something that matters, something that will bring healing and hope to our world. The invitation this year is to discern that good which is yours to do, and to join together as one body in Christ to serve God’s purposes in this place.

At BRPC, we see that goodness every day in worship and music that uplift the spirit, in children’s laughter during Sunday School, in youth discovering faith that makes a difference, in food given to those who are hungry, in relationships built across differences, in our spirit of acceptance and welcome, and in the quiet acts of compassion that so often go unseen. Each one of these is an expression of the gifts and commitments of this congregation, your gifts, being used for the common good.

As we look to the year ahead, our church officers and staff and other leaders are prayerfully responding to God’s call to live out that shared calling, to each do our part in embodying and sharing God’s great love. We seek to be a community where God’s peace and hope take root, even amid times of uncertainty and fear. We work to build bridges of understanding and friendship. We nurture ecumenical, interfaith, and community relationships that reflect God’s inclusive love. We invest deeply in our children and youth, helping them to grow in their faith and discover the good that is theirs to do. And we renew our commitment to our online ministry, as a way to engage even more families and extend the reach of our love and invitation.

Our three-week stewardship season begins on Sunday, November 2, All Saints’ Day, and culminates on Consecration Sunday, November 16, at 10 a.m., when we will dedicate our financial pledges and ourselves to Almighty God. On Consecration Sunday we are grateful that our guest preacher will be Rev. Dr. Jonathan Lee Walton, President of Princeton Theological Seminary.

We invite you to pray about your response: What is the good that is yours to do? How might you share your time, talents, and financial gifts to support Christ’s work at BRPC in 2026, that our ministry might continue to flourish and to grow? Your generosity makes all the difference — not only in sustaining our beloved church’s life and witness but in multiplying its impact in the world.

We are deeply grateful for your faithfulness, your generosity, and for the many ways that you embody God’s goodness in our shared life together. May this season of stewardship renew in each of us a sense of purpose, joy, and calling — to do the good that is ours to do, for the glory of God and the good of the world.

This is the smallest of the four components. It includes support of programs critical to our spiritual life including our children, family, adult education, music and worship ministries.

Mission remains a central tenant at BRPC. We are called to serve those in need and we rejoice in opportunities to do so locally and around the world.

This is our largest expense. We are blessed with a staff of dedicated, faithful and talented women and men bringing God’s nurturing love to us all on our faith journey.

We are stewards of a fantastic, historic campus. Regular maintenance is required every year, and utilities, insurance, and other expenses continue to rise.
