For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.— Luke 18:14

Too often Lord,
I build myself up
by tearing others down.
Judge those around me,
but ignore my own faults.
Point out their failings,
yet hide my own sin.
I want to feel worthy,
accepted,
loved.
But often make others
feel worthless,
unacceptable,
unloved.
I show others
disdain,
contempt,
pity.
But seek
praise,
glory,
affirmation.
Humble my heart Lord,
remove my proud spirit,
so that in you,
I may be exalted.
